IBM targets Russian developers

My cynical devil says that this press release should be amended to say; IBM tries targets Russian developers for the 14th time since 1992.

But as it falls in to the all news is good news I won't. The trend is in the right direction; more Cisco, more IBM, more Google, more M$OFT, more Intel (though they have been doing good things for so long that they are no longer a precursor to a trend).

Bring it on. Anyone know where to find qualified entrepreneurs?

Alright. There's something interesting.

I do have a crazy thought on answering your question.

What better place to find great Russian entrepreneurs than the Valley itself.

I think if Russian expats living in New York or California, or even London, were encouraged to come back and do their startups there - that could be something worth considering, for more than financial reasons.

If I had to guess, I can see the benefits of leading a venture backed startup in Russia as opposed to doing it in America. It's a different lifestyle, and it has a hell of a lot more perks. A kommersant in Moscow is a somebody. The same person in Palo Alto is often not much more than cannon fodder, competing with a hundreds of chaps in the same predicament as he is.

Besides - Russia has better nightlife.

They used to say go west, but I think the pet shop boys might have made a mistake, because it's in the east is where the action is.
